Terms of Use — Inkteract

These terms are the agreement between you and Inkteract when you use our website, browser extension, embed script, apps and API (together, the “Service”). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.

Accepting these terms

By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. If you use Inkteract for an organisation, you confirm you can accept these terms on its behalf.

The service

Inkteract lets you click a word, sentence or paragraph on a web page and get an instant card (such as a definition, translation, audio, image or answer) without leaving the page. We may add, change or remove features at any time.

Your account

You can sign in with Google. Keep your account secure and tell us if you suspect misuse. You are responsible for activity under your account and for giving us accurate information.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law or infringe anyone's rights while using the Service;
  • send content that is unlawful, abusive, or that you have no right to process;
  • try to overload the Service or get around its limits;
  • copy or decompile the Service except where the law allows it;
  • use the Service to build a competing product or to send spam.

API access and scraping

Access to the Inkteract API is only through our own products or with an API key we issued to you. Keys are personal to you or your organisation and must not be shared or published outside your site. You may not misuse the API, bulk-harvest results, resell access, or exceed the rate and spending limits we set. We may throttle or block traffic that does.

Publishers (embed script)

If you add Inkteract to a website with the embed script, you also agree that:

  • you have the right to run Inkteract on that site and its content;
  • you will tell your visitors that Inkteract is used and link them to our Privacy Policy;
  • you will keep your API key to the domains you registered, and are responsible for usage under it;
  • you will not use Inkteract to process content you are not allowed to share with us.

AI-generated content

Cards are produced by AI models and may be inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. Do not rely on them for medical, legal, financial or other critical decisions. Check important facts against a reliable source. Translations, definitions, conversions, images and audio are provided for convenience only.

Content and ownership

You keep your rights in the text you read and send. You give us permission to process it only to provide the Service to you. Inkteract, its software, design and branding belong to us and our licensors; we give you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Service under these terms.

Service provided as is

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Inkteract and its team are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.

Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time, and ask us to delete your data at support@inkteract.ai. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or put the Service at risk. Sections that by nature should survive termination (such as ownership, disclaimers and liability) will do so.

Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will make a reasonable effort to tell you. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
